I run a range of group Pilates classes in Portishead, North Somerset. I offer a number of different classes to reflect the differing needs and abilities of my clients. These include:

  • Seated & Supported Pilates

  • This 40 min class focuses on building strength and maintaining mobility and includes a mix of standing and seated work on a chair. A chair can be used for support during the standing work and there is no work on the floor.

  • Gentle Pilates

  • This 55 min class also focuses on building strength and maintaining mobility. While it also includes some standing & seated chair work, it also includes work on the floor on a mat, so you do need to be able to get down to and back up from the floor (but you can use a chair for support). Other than that we take classic Pilates exercises, adapt them for ability & need and throw in a lot of lovely stretches.

  • Beginners & Improvers Pilates

  • These 55 min mixed ability classes are suitable for both complete beginners and those clients who have been attending class for a while (improvers!). These classes include many of the classic Pilates exercises. I tailor every class to the people in the room so I will adapt exercises as necessary & make them harder if appropriate.

  • Strength & Balance Pilates

  • These 55 min classes include a longer standing & balance sequence than the other classes. They are mixed ability classes, open to all. Their main focus areas are mobility, strength & balance and they include a short core section on the mats towards the end of the class. These classes are particularly good if you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia or if you know you are at higher risk of developing them. However, they are beneficial to everyone. We use resistance bands and / or weights every week.

  • Intermediate Pilates

  • These classes are typically faster paced than the "Beginners & Improvers" classes and include some extra (more advanced) exercises (like shoulder stands and roll overs). We do more flowing sequences and slightly less demos.
